France 2019: Wednesday 06/26 - Thursday 06/27 - Travel + First Day in Paris

Our flights were on Air Canada and we decided to upgrade to Premium Economy to help on the long legs of the trip. We left Orlando at 12:00PM to Toronto.  The flight was ~2.5 hours and went by quickly. We started to get a little restless as we had a 4.5 hour layover before our flight Paris. The overnight leg from Toronto to Paris was uneventful but none of us (save maybe Caleb) got a ton of sleep during the ~7 hour flight.

We arrived at 9:00AM local time. After a bit of hike through Charles De Gaul airport, we met our travel leaders and a couple of other folks that were part of our group. We all boarded a bus which took us to our hotel. After arrival, we checked in and were able to take a much needed nap.  Later in the afternoon we boarded a bus with a local tour guide and headed into Paris. We departed the bus and walked up to Sacre-Coeur which is the famous church which over looks Paris. The building itself is stunning, inside and out, and the view of the city is hard to beat.
From there we headed to the Latin Quarter where we had free time to explore and have dinner. On our way, we were able to go by Notre Dam. The damage from the fire is significant but I was glad we had a chance to see it. We were pretty much wiped out after eating so we found our way back to the hotel via the Paris metro.
